Nothing like a home cooked meal cooked over a open camp fire. 17 Grand Canyon Shot looking East or Upriver. We are about ~30 mile down river from the North Rim Overlook Areas. 18 Looking straight across the canyon into one of the smaller side canyons. A good view on how water has cavered the canyon. You are mostly likely look at a ~2000 foot elevation drop. 19 - 22 More shots of the canyon looking east. Sorry these shots are hazy, while I was out there there was an big forest fire was burning at the North Rim. Which made it pretty hazy here. 23 - Looking west and down river onto the lava flow from the top of the canyon down into the river. 24, 25 - Some neat desert shot from walking around the campsite area. 26 - The turn off into the campsite area. Which is about a 1/2 mile way from the canyon. Some of the campsite are under the huge rock that you see on the right side of the shot. This rock was a great place to hide out in during the afternoon sun. Don't you just love the terrain, its so different from around here. 27 - It a shame that this shot was over exposed. {Shouldn't change film in full bright sunlight.} But this is an neat shot of the campsite while standing on that huge rock. 28 - A group of school teacher took over the group camp next to my campsite. They weren't too bad of group to be next door to, plus they gave a nice history lesson of the area during the night time campfire. Plus you should had seen one of their tents that flew into one of the 1000 foot deep side canyon. Yes its very windy here... 30 - This was my view out the tent window. The colors keep changing during the day. And this mesa keep changing color the whole day. 31 - The Grand Canyon at Lee's Ferry. Not so deep here but we are around ~100- 120 miles up river from Tuweep. 32 - The Bridge over the Grand Canyon at Lee's Ferry 33 - 36 - Meteor Crater, AZ wow what a big hole. It funny in that you drive out of Flagastaff, AZ heading east into the high plain there off in the distant you see these small hills. As you get closer they keep getting bigger and bigger. If I remember right its like 800-1000 feet higher than the surrounding areas. And the Crater is a lot deeper than the hills. 37 - The have a neat space museum at the crater and this is the Apollo module boiler plate. What they did with this was to throw it into the ocean and the ships would then got a practice recovering it. |
